A lovey is a comfort object that an infant or toddler bonds with in order to feel reassured and secure usually helping them sleep, or to adjust being away from their parent or through separation anxiety.

Loveys are also very soothing during stressful situations, such as travel, illness, or the absence of a parent, if you plan to resume work—and for newborns and toddlers with cautious, sensitive temperaments.

When your baby is around 6 months old is the ideal time to introduce a lovey.

Here are some tips to introduce the lovey to your baby. 

Before giving the lovey to Baby, you should wear the lovey or hold it for at least one hour. Your little one may find comfort in the transmitted scent, which gives them the impression that you are around.

Keep the lovey with you all day. Make your child's stuffed animal a permanent member of the family! Keep it on the diaper changing table, Bring it along when you go for walks, and carry it about in your arms while you carry baby so your baby starts to recognize it and associate it with safety and comfort.

Many children rely on their loveys to help them sleep, just like you relying on your favourite pillow or blanket.  As a result, it's a good idea to keep an identical backup lovey on hand at all times.
